How to Earn with Your YouTube Channel
Two separate connections, two kinds of money, and why your video is worth a fee plus a commission rather than one or the other.
What this guide covers
The thing nobody tells you first
There are two separate places to connect your YouTube channel, and connecting one does not connect the other.
Two systems, two logins, two kinds of money.
If you want both a fee for making the video and a commission on what it sells, you have to set up both. Most creators connect one, wonder why half the opportunities never appear, and conclude the platform is quiet.
Do both in one sitting. Each is a Google sign-in and takes about a minute, and you only ever do it once per channel.
Connecting for paid collaborations
In the mobile app. Sign in with Google in a browser window. There is no code to send, unlike Instagram.
Each channel becomes its own account
If your Google account owns several channels, you get a picker. Three channels means three Ainfluencer accounts, each verified and reviewed separately.
Sign in with the account that owns the channel
If your channel is a Brand Account, or you are only a manager rather than the owner, connecting can fail. This is a known case.
Then finish your media kit
Until you do, the account reads Draft and brands cannot see you at all.
Then quality review
The card reads Pending Admin Approval. Only Active lets you make offers.
If connecting fails and you manage the channel rather than owning it, send support a screenshot of the error. This case has needed app-side work before, so it is worth reporting rather than retrying.
Connecting for affiliate commission
In the affiliate app, under Edit Profile, then Manage Platforms.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| Choose Your Platform, then YouTube | A popup opens Google’s consent page |
| Approve | Your account and all its channels are saved as Verified instantly. No waiting for a review |
| Choose Your Category | Required for each connected channel. Without one the app will not continue |
| Reconnecting later | Refreshes the channel list. Channels the platform no longer returns are removed |
YouTube is one of only five platforms that verify instantly by login, with TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook. Everything else goes through a manual review that takes up to 12 hours, so the YouTube route is the fastest way onto the affiliate side.
Why your channel is worth more than a feed post
The difference is time. A video keeps being found; a feed post does not.
| A feed post | Your video | |
|---|---|---|
| How long it earns | Days | Years, through search and suggested |
| What the viewer wants | To be entertained | To decide whether to buy |
| What that is worth to a brand | Reach | Conversion, which is what they actually measure |
| How you should price it | Per post | A fee for the production plus a commission on the description link |
This is the argument to make when you negotiate. A brand offering a flat fee for a YouTube integration is buying a tail they are not paying for. Ask for the fee and their affiliate programme, and point at the description link as the reason.
Pricing a YouTube integration
Price the production, not the post. The work is not comparable to a Story.
Count the hours honestly
Scripting, filming, editing and thumbnail work. A 60 second integration inside a 12 minute video is still a day’s work around it.
Charge differently for placement
An integration at minute two is worth far more than a mention in the outro, and brands know it.
Ask for a longer lead time
Every timer on the deal counts from the agreed publish date, so a date you cannot comfortably hit is a risk to your fee, not just to your schedule.
Agree usage rights separately
If they want to run your footage as a paid ad, that is another product. The offer form cannot record it, so put it in the chat.
The platform minimum is $10, which is meaningless for a YouTube video. Do not let it anchor you.
Delivering a YouTube video
The same submission flow as any other deal, with one advantage.
Submit the video URL on the offer card
Submit Post URL in the deal chat. Not a chat message.
Our system can read a public YouTube link
So the brand gets the full approval window, about nine days. You are not on the short clock that catches out Instagram stories.
Keep it public and keep it up
Check the Duration term on the offer. Permanent means it is meant to stay.
The description link is yours to protect
If you also have an affiliate link in there, removing it later ends the commission.
Add your affiliate tracking link to the description before you publish, not after. Edits to a description do not retroactively track the views that already happened.
Two kinds of money, paid two different ways
They never mix, and they arrive on very different timelines.
| Collaboration fee | Affiliate commission | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it lands | Your Ainfluencer wallet | Your connected Stripe account |
| How you are paid | PayPal or crypto, by request | Stripe pays out to your bank |
| The fee taken | 20% at withdrawal | None by us on the payout |
| How long | Approval, then one to two weeks to withdraw | 35 day hold, then roughly five to seven weeks from the sale |
Because they are separate systems, you can have money waiting in both places and only notice one. Check the affiliate side separately; it will never appear in your Ainfluencer wallet.
Setting up your channel to earn both ways
Done once, in about ten minutes.
Ready to monetise your channel?
Connect it in the app, then connect it again on the affiliate side. Both take about a minute.
