YouTube Creators: Questions and Answers
How YouTube works on Ainfluencer, for brands running campaigns and creators monetising a channel.
Yes, and it is the largest creator index on the platform. There are more YouTube accounts here than Instagram or TikTok accounts.
| Subscriber band | Accounts you can search |
|---|---|
| Under 5,000 | 120,349 |
| 5,000 to 10,000 | 43,655 |
| 10,000 to 100,000 | 212,997 |
| 100,000 to 1 million | 90,086 |
| Over 1 million | 16,667 |
| Total | 483,754 |
Two honest caveats. YouTube is the newest platform here and receives far fewer inbound offers than Instagram or TikTok, so you will be inviting rather than waiting. And about 43% of these accounts have not refreshed in over six months, so check the live channel before you price a deal.
There is no separate YouTube campaign. It is a post type inside the normal paid collaboration wizard.
- Create a Paid Collaboration as usual.
- At the platforms step, tick YouTube Video. You can combine it with Instagram or TikTok in the same campaign.
- Set the duration to Permanent, because the value of YouTube is the long tail.
- Say yes to a bio link and give your product URL. On YouTube that becomes the description link.
- Upload at least one reference file, which is also what submits the campaign for review.
Be specific about where in the video you want the mention. A 60 second integration at minute two and a 15 second outro mention are different products and are priced very differently.
Through the affiliate side, which is a separate system from the collaboration marketplace. The creator puts your tracking link in the video description, and you pay a commission on what it sells.
- Connect your Shopify or Amazon store, and add a card on file. Both are required before the affiliate option opens.
- Set a commission per product. Rates in use today run 5% to 50%. On the Free plan the minimum you can offer is 25%.
- The creator connects their YouTube channel in the affiliate app, which verifies instantly by Google login.
- They pick a category for each channel, which is what your programme is matched against.
- They generate a tracking link per product and put it in the video description.
- A sale is tracked to them. It waits 35 days for the returns window.
- The nightly billing run charges your card, and their share goes to their Stripe account.
6,512 affiliates have already connected a YouTube channel, which makes it the third largest promotion platform on the affiliate side after Instagram and TikTok. The affiliate side of YouTube is noticeably busier than the collaboration side.
For anything beyond a passing mention, both. The two halves pay for two different things.
| What it pays for | Why it matters on YouTube | |
|---|---|---|
| A flat fee | The production | A YouTube integration is scripting, filming and editing. Commission alone asks the creator to fund that, and good channels decline |
| A commission | The long tail | The video keeps being found through search for years, and the description link keeps converting |
Running both today means two setups: a paid collaboration for the fee, and an affiliate programme the creator joins for the commission. The combined campaign type is marked Coming Soon in the picker and is not built yet.
Because of when the viewer arrives. A feed post interrupts someone; a YouTube video is usually something they went looking for.
| Instagram or TikTok | YouTube | |
|---|---|---|
| How long it lives | Hours to days | Years, through search and suggested |
| Viewer intent | Impulse | Research, often close to buying |
| Best fit | Awareness, trends, short demos | Reviews, tutorials, comparisons, considered purchases |
If your product takes more than thirty seconds to explain, or costs enough that people read reviews first, YouTube is usually the better spend even at a higher fee.
By signing in with Google. There is no code to send, unlike Instagram.
There are two separate places to do it, and connecting one does not connect the other:
| Where | What it unlocks | How |
|---|---|---|
| The Ainfluencer mobile app | Paid collaborations, where a brand pays a fee | Profile, Social Accounts, Add, then sign in with Google |
| The affiliate app | Commission on sales through tracking links | Edit Profile, Manage Platforms, then sign in with Google again |
Most creators connect one and wonder why half the opportunities never appear. Do both in one sitting; each takes about a minute.
The commonest cause is a Brand Account, or the creator being a manager of the channel rather than the owner of the Google account behind it.
- Sign in with the Google account that actually owns the channel, not one that manages it.
- If the Google account owns several channels, a picker appears. Each channel becomes its own separate Ainfluencer account.
- If it still fails, send support a screenshot of the error. This case has needed app-side work before, so it is worth reporting rather than retrying.
Channels that are already claimed by another Ainfluencer login, or that break a rule, are silently skipped in the picker. If nothing connects, the reason shown belongs to the first channel in the list.
They submit the video URL with Submit Post URL on the offer card. Our system can read a public YouTube link, which works in everyone’s favour.
| What was submitted | Your approval window |
|---|---|
| A public YouTube video | About 9 days from submission, with the refund about a day later |
| An Instagram story or a private post | Only 2 to 3 days from the agreed publish date |
So YouTube deals do not suffer the short-clock trap that catches out Instagram stories. You get the full window. The thing to watch instead is the lead time: give a YouTube creator longer before the agreed publish date, because a scripted and edited video is not a same-week job.
Yes, and each channel is its own Ainfluencer account, verified and reviewed separately, with its own niche and audience profile.
All of them pay into the same wallet, so a creator with three channels has one balance and three listings.
When you invite, make sure you are inviting the channel you actually want. A creator’s gaming channel and cooking channel are separate accounts here and will have different audience data.
Because many of them are. Roughly 43% of the YouTube accounts in our index, about 208,000 of them, have not been refreshed in over six months.
Results come from our own search index rather than live from YouTube, and the refresh for YouTube has not kept pace with the size of the index.
Use search to shortlist, then open each channel’s live page before you negotiate. For a creator you are about to pay real money, the live subscriber count and the recent upload cadence are worth thirty seconds of checking.
There is no standard rate, and honestly there is not yet enough YouTube deal history here to quote a meaningful average. Over the last twelve months YouTube accounts received a small fraction of the offers that Instagram and TikTok did.
What is fixed is the floor and the fees:
| Minimum deal | $10, which is meaningless for a video but is the platform floor |
| Your platform fee | 25%, 20%, 15% or 3% on top, set by your plan |
| What the creator receives | The full agreed price, minus 20% when they withdraw |
Price the production rather than the placement. Ask the creator what a comparable integration costs them in time, and expect a YouTube video to sit well above a feed post from a similarly sized account.
It depends on whether you are willing to do outreach.
| If you | Then |
|---|---|
| Want inbound offers with no effort | Instagram and TikTok are where the activity is today |
| Are willing to search, shortlist and invite | YouTube gives you the largest pool here and far less competition for attention, because few brands are inviting |
| Sell something people research before buying | YouTube is usually the better placement regardless of the queue |
The quiet is an opportunity as much as a warning. A personalised invitation to a YouTube creator here is competing with very few other brand invitations, which is not true on Instagram.
