Use Case Guide · For Tech and Gadget Brands

Ainfluencer for Tech and Gadget Brands

A device is worth real money, so this guide is about exposure: what is at risk in each route, what insurance covers at checkout, and which route keeps the device with you.

Stop 1

The Tech, Gadgets and Appliances pool

About 9,100 creator accounts picked a category in this branch. It is a modest pool spread over twelve categories.

CategoryCreator accounts, rounded
Other2,900
Electronics2,500
Smartphone2,300
Tech1,500
Appliances1,500
Cell Phones / Accessories1,100

  • Other is the biggest row, and it tells you nothing about the creator. Open profiles before you invite.
  • Furniture / Decor sits in this branch, so home brands search it too.
  • Counts are accounts that picked the category, including some still in review. One creator may appear in several rows.
Stop 2

How much value is on the line in each route

In a paid deal the escrow protects the fee. It does not protect a device you ship, so think about the item separately.

RouteWhat you riskWhat protects you
GiftingThe product, because nothing is returned and no fee is paidRequirements you set, and the creator’s reviews and history
Paid collaboration with a shipped deviceThe fee and the deviceEscrow for the fee, optional insurance for the device
Paid collaboration without a deviceThe feeEscrow, until you approve
AffiliateNothing up front. Commission is charged after a saleCommission is billed about 35 days after the sale
  • A gifting program has no checkout, so there is no insurance there.
  • For a costly device, consider a paid collaboration where you ship it and insure it, or an affiliate campaign that does not move a device.
  • Do not move a gifting card to Shipped until the parcel really leaves. The address locks at that point.
Stop 3

Insurance, step by step

At checkout of a paid collaboration there is an optional insurance switch for physical products you ship to the creator.

  1. The creator’s offer arrives, and you press Pay.
  2. On the checkout page switch on Insurance.
  3. Enter the value of the product.
  4. The fee is a percentage of that value, shown on screen. It is not part of the platform fee base.
  5. Tick the terms and pay.
CoversNotes
Product not returnedFor items the creator keeps without delivering
No-show creatorsWhen the creator does not deliver
  • If you need to make a claim, contact support with the offer details.
  • The minimum payment is $10 including insurance. A checkout stays open for 30 minutes.
  • Cards that need extra bank verification are not supported at checkout. Use another card, the wallet, Stripe or PayPal.

See How to Pay for an Offer.

Stop 4

Sending a device from Shopify

On a Shopify campaign you can send the product from the inbox once the offer is paid.

StepWhat happens
Send via ShopifyPick the product. One unit of each is sent
AddressUse the creator’s default, enter another, or request one
OrderA free order is created in your store and marked fulfilled
TrackingPick the carrier, enter the number and Submit and Track
UpdatesTrack123 reports in transit, out for delivery and delivered, and both sides are notified
  • The request address option does not currently let the creator reply. Get the address in the chat and choose Enter a different address.
  • Brands with several Shopify stores should check that the right store is connected.
  • Without Shopify, ship by hand and share the tracking number in the chat.
Stop 6

Approval, revisions and results

Review the delivery before you release the money.

ItemDetail
Approve itReleases the creator’s payment. You cannot undo it
Disapprove itThe money stays held, and you are refunded 14 days after the start date unless the creator resubmits
RevisionsAfter payment, up to two by default. A higher price is paid first
AnalyticsLikes, comments, views and saves from the creator’s link, read about an hour, a day, three days and a week after submission
  • A campaign shows in Analytics only after an approved delivery with a readable link.
  • If nobody approves, you are refunded about ten days after a readable link or upload.
  • You can write a review after the deal. It is checked by our team before it appears.

Questions tech and gadget brands ask

Is a gifted device protected?

No. Gifting has no checkout, so there is no insurance. Consider a paid collaboration.

What does insurance cover?

Product not returned and no-show creators, for physical products you ship in a paid collaboration.

How do I make a claim?

Contact support with the offer details.

Does escrow protect my device?

No. Escrow holds the fee. Insurance is the option that relates to the device.

Can I avoid shipping a device at all?

Yes. An affiliate campaign pays commission on sales and sends nothing to a creator.
