Hybrid campaigns combine two payment layers: a flat fee paid upfront through escrow (compensates the creator for time, production, and guaranteed reach), plus a commission on every tracked sale they drive (keeps them financially invested in performance).

The flat fee makes the deal worth their time. The commission keeps them pushing the content. Setup uses both the paid campaign flow for the fee and the affiliate setup for tracking.

Pure affiliate is a coin flip from the creator’s perspective: they invest production time but might earn nothing if the content underperforms. Top creators with strong audiences won’t take that risk for an unknown brand.

Hybrid removes the risk floor — they’re guaranteed the flat fee, and commission becomes upside they’re motivated to maximize. For brands, this attracts the kind of creators who would have ignored a pure-commission offer.

Create the campaign as a paid collaboration with your flat fee, then in the brief add the affiliate commission terms (rate, tracking method). When the creator accepts, escrow holds the flat fee until content goes live, and the commission tracks against their affiliate link as sales come in.

Hybrid works best when both halves are meaningful. A $50 flat fee + 5% commission on a $20 product doesn’t move the needle — try $300 flat + 15% on a $50+ product instead.
